Remembering Yukimura: 10th Anniversary
March 3rd marks the 10th Anniversary of the passing of Yukimura Haruki sensei. On the 19th of February, we will gather at LA Rope to celebrate his memory. The event is free, but an RSVP is required, as space is limited. Please do not RSVP unless you intend to come.
The evening will begin with a short presentation of Yukimura sensei’s life and work and the importance it holds in the history of shibari in Japan and a brief ceremony. Following that, we will view one of his videos, from his LIVE series (approximately 60 mins). After we will share snacks and refreshments and have time to talk and tie, for those who wish to.
I will also share a number of books from my personal collection that document his life and work in photography.
There will be a guestbook/memorial book that will be available to sign or comment any memories or good thoughts you have of sensei or his influence. It will be presented in Japan to a group of Yukimura Ryu students and instructors and made part of the newly created archive documenting his life and work.
Everyone is welcome, whether you met or knew Yukimura sensei or if you are just curious about his work and legacy.
